Unilever has appointed Hein Schumacher, boss of a Dutch dairy and nutrition business, as chief executive to succeed Alan Jope, who said last year he would retire.
Schumacher is chief executive of Royal FrieslandCampina, which generates €11bn in annual sales, and became a non-executive director of Unilever in October last year.
He will take over on July 1 following a one-month transition.
Schumacher, who joined Royal FrieslandCampina in 2014, previously worked at HJ Heinz and was based in China for four years.
He began his career at Unilever.
